Sonu Nigam Goes Against Playing National Anthem In Theaters, Reveals The Valid Reason Behind His Opinion!
Back then during the December of 2016, Supreme Court has come up with a surprising verdict saying that National Anthem is must in cinema halls. The decision was strictly followed in theaters since then. The Apex court ended up saying that it is mandatory for movie theaters to play the National Anthem before a movie starts, along with visuals of the national flag and it should not be dramatized or exploited commercially.
The Supreme Court further stated that all those inside the theater must rise and pay attention when the National Anthem is being played on the screen. Though some prominent people went against this, many supported the act, called it a gesture of patriotism.
Now, recently SC revealed that they’re re-evaluating the reports on confirming National anthem in theaters. While this is going on on one side, actress Sunny Leone has come forward supporting the idea. Contrary to this, Sonu Nigam went saying that it shouldn’t be played, gave a valid reason.
Singer Sonu Nigam said that while he honored every country’s anthem, he also believed theatres and restaurants were not the places for it. He said that National anthem of any country should be respected and should be given same honor as we give to our anthem. He said, “If the national anthem of Pakistan is played and all Pakistanis are standing, I will also stand out of respect for that country and those people.”
He further said, “There are some people who are saying the national anthem should be there (in cinema halls), some say it should not be there. The national anthem is a prestigious and sensitive thing and I think it should not be played in certain places– in movie theatres or restaurants.”
He said that National Anthem should be respected as a person respects his/her parents. He said, “I respect my parents and if I know they will not be respected at certain places, why should I take them there? I want them to be respected when they go out. Similarly, the national anthem should not be played at places where it will not be respected.”
Well, he definitely made sense and it is quite transparent this time.
