Microsoft, the tech giant has tied up with Box, an enterprise-based cloud storage company and announced a new universal app for Windows 10 so as to boost its enterprise potential. Box is a cloud computing business which provides file-sharing that can be uploaded to its servers. Windows 10 continues its winning ways with Box by announcing its new Windows 10 app on Wednesday.

Microsoft had partnered with Box in April at Microsoft Build Conference and this new product is the result of its partnership. It has developed a new Windows 10 app promises secure content along with features such as managing content across devices such as Windows PCs, tablets and phones, and also share files with anyone.

Box for Windows 10 – File Sharing App

Box App for Windows 10 is a new file sharing app that will allow previewing Office content in an easy way that include easily a wide variety of file types such as Office files, PDFs, images and more. This new app will let users create and collaborate on Office files and receive real-time updates. You can share files among your Windows 10 devices in an easy way. The users can save Word, Excel and PowerPoint files directly to the Box cloud. If you double click a saved file within the Box app, it will open the relevant Windows app. While working on shared files, Box integrates with Windows 10 to send notifications of changes for better collaboration.

Box for Windows 10 also focuses on multitasking. Using the Windows 10 multitasking feature, users can simultaneously work on Box and other apps side by side. It also has a new option called Windows 10 Live Tiles that provides the ability to pin certain Box files and favorites right to the Start screen. The new app also allows users to send and share links to specific files providing much ease without having to  deal with large email attachments. The preview functionality of this new app lets you preview your Office files, PDFs and photos within the Box app without having to download the content.

Aaron Levie, CEO of Enterprise Cloud Company, Box wrote in a blog post, “Under Satya Nadella, Microsoft has pushed boldly into a cloud-first, mobile-first world, opening up its platforms to integrate with best-of-breed tools (like Box) and improve the experience for their customers. This move has ultimately made it easy for enterprises to choose the vendors they want to work with, enabling more productivity and collaboration within the workplace.” 

Box for Windows 10 app is now available in the Windows store for PCs and tablets. It is anticipated to be available for Windows 10 phones very soon. The Box app works with individual, business or enterprise accounts offers many benefits for the users to manage their content among various devices with much ease.
