One of the major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, Mahabharata is highly regarded for its preaching’s which enlightens an individual about ideal ethics and morals of life. It is the epic narrative of the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kaurava and the Pandava princes describing philosophical and devotional material discussing four major goals of life called purusharthas. Sources add in that about 80 percent of the Indian male population were killed in the monstrous war which lasted for about eighteen days.

Know How Lord Krishna Died After Mahabharata War?

We are often told that Pandavas won over the Kauravas while hardly things which happened post war are enjoined. Far how long did Pandavas rule their Hastinapur kingdom after the war? How long did they live? What happened to Lord Krishna? Questions of this kind might have stroked out your brains after being through this epic mythology while most of them have been rarely answered. While we have the answers for all these questions.

Fact #1. Pandavas who won the war of Kurukshetra were coronated as the rulers of Hastinapur under the leadership of Yudhistira. Witnessing the grievous death of  Kauravas, Gandhari curses Lord Krishna and his clan of a painful death like her kins.

Fact #2. Under the leadership of Yudhistira, Pandavas ruled Hastinapur for 36 long years. While in the meantime whole Yadava clan ends up killing each other ending their clan even though they have been escaped from the hostile environment by lord Krishna to Prabhasa.

Fact #3. Mortal body of Lord Krishna gets shot by a hunter mistakenly when he was trying to eliminate the rebellion of Yadava was killing his own clan members at Parabhasa. Following which Lord Krishna leaves his mortal body on earth and unites with his true image of Vishnu. Being ascertained with the death of Lord Krishna sage Ved Vyasa recounts to Arjuna that the determination of his and his brothers lives is reasoned out.

Fact #4. Pandavas along with Draupadi goes on to the Himalayas as a final penance to reach heaven led Yudhistira after crowning the Parikshit as the king of Hastinapur during the end of Dwapara Yuga and the emergence Kali Yuga. Lord Yama joins Pandavas in the disguise of a stray dog on their way to the Himalayas.

Fact #5. During their journey towards Himalaya mountains, one by one Pandavas falls to death, starting with Draupadi and ending with Bheem. While the reasons behind the death of each Pandava is said to be their desires, issues, and troubles caused by their pride. Among Pandavas, the elder one Yudhistira could only skip the death due to his along with lord Yama.

Fact #6. Lord Yama reveals his identity to Yudhistira at the gateway of heaven while he is escorted to hell to witness his brothers and Draupadi are paying off their sins. Although he gets assured by Lord Indira, that they would accompany him at heaven.

The lead characters of Mahabharata left their mortal bodies on this earth in this way. After their death, Kali Yuga (the current times) began with increasing  chaos and Adharma creeping into the world.
