Have you ever wished to dislike someone on Facebook? If Yes, then here’s a good news for you. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed plans for the dislike button on Tuesday during a session at the company’s headquarters in California.

“People have asked about the ‘Dislike’ button for many years … and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it and are very close to shipping a test of it,” Zuckerberg explained During a Q&A session at Facebook’s Menlo Park headquarters.

However Zuckerberg went on to explain that the platform doesn’t want to implement a Reddit-like system of up and down voting and, instead, it will be for times when clicking “like” on “sad” posts felt insensitive.

“We don’t want to turn Facebook into a forum where people are voting up or down on people’s posts. That doesn’t seem like the kind of community that we want to create: you don’t want to go through the process of sharing some moment that was important to you in your day and have someone downvote it,” he added.

Public testing for a dislike button is expected to roll out soon, and depending on how people react, it could become a mainstay of the platform for good.
