Joint Admission Test (JAM) 2016: Online Registrations Started Apply Here

The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is going to conduct the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) for admission to Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programs at IISc and M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., M.Sc.-M.S.(Research)/ Ph.D. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programs at various IITs for 1629 seats on 7th February 2016. All the interested candidates are waiting for the online registration. Now, candidates can apply for JAM 2016 as the registration were started from today i.e 2nd September 2015. JAM 2016 Registrations:

The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) is an admission test to Masters of Science (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science, and other institutes. IITs started conducting the JAM in the 2004 – 2005 academic session. The main objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual-degree and other post-graduate programs based on the performance in a single test. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalizing undergraduate-level science education in the country. For the academic year 2016-17 the notification was released and candidates who are interested and eligible can apply for the examination. All the candidates can apply for JAM 2016 from today i.e; 2nd September 2015 as the admissions were started.

Joint Admission Test (JAM) 2016 is going to be held on 7th February 2016 for the admissions into M.Sc programs for the academic year 2016-2017. All the candidates who are interested can apply for the examination. Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

At least 55% aggregate marks without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC (NCL) Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category candidates in the qualifying degree For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks) the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s)

NOTE:

Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the required eligibility, as specified by the admitting institute, should be submitted by September 30, 2016. Reservation policy is as per the Government of India norms

Examination Pattern:

JAM 2016 examination consists of 7 papers namely Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics and Physics. Following is the syllabus and candidates can check details in the official website regarding more information on syllabus.

Biological Sciences:

  • General Biology
  • Basics of Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology
  • Microbiology, Cell Biology and Immunology
  • Mathematical Sciences

Biotechnology:

  • Biology, Chemistry , Mathematics and Physics.
  • The syllabus will be of 10 plus 2 plus 3 level.

Chemistry:

  • Physical Chemistry
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Inorganic Chemistry

Geology:

  • The Planet Earth
  • Geo-morphology
  • Structural Geology
  • Paleontology
  • Stratigraphy

Mathematics:

  • Sequences and Series of Real Numbers
  • Functions of Two Real Variables
  • Differential Equations
  • Vector Calculus
  • Mathematical Statistics:
  • The Mathematical Statistics (MS) test paper comprises of Mathematics and Statistics.

Physics:

  • Mathematical Methods
  • Mechanics and General Properties of Matter
  • Oscillations, Waves and Optics
  • Electricity and Magnetism
  • Kinetic theory, Thermodynamics

How to apply for JAM 2016 ?

  • Candidates should logon to the official website or the link provided below.
  • Candidates who are interested to apply for JAM 2016 should register for JOAPS by filling all the personal details.
  • After registering candidates should fill the application form such as the number and choice of test paper(s) that he/she wishes to appear, city choices, date of birth, gender, parent/guardian’s name and mobile number, nationality, category, PwD (Person with disability)status,address for communication, details of valid personal ID information, information on qualifying degree, percentage of marks/CGPA, status of graduation, college information, etc.
  • Candidates should provide scanned copies of Photograph and signature.
  • Click on submit button.
  • Download and take a print out of the application form.
