Bhumi Pednekar Sports Rusty Look For Her Upcoming Drama

Bhumi Pednekar is all set to play the role of a dacoit in her next movie which is directed by Udta Punjab’s fame Abhishek Chaubey’s movie, Sonchiriya. Recently the first look of the movie was released and Bhumi looks bold and fierce. She’s portraying a role of a young widow while Sushant Singh Rajput will be playing the male lead in the film.

Bhumi is very much picky about her films and only acts in those films where she plays an important role. Now she is all set to impress us with her movie, Sonchiriya. Bhumi will be playing a completely de-glam role in the movie and suited perfectly for the role. With a cold stare and a gun on her shoulder, she looks quite a dacoit. Talking about her new role Bhumi said,

“Abhishek is a master at creating characters and has crafted iconic protagonists through his films (Ishqiya, Dedh Ishqiya and Udta Punjab). My look is a stroke of genius. It was his vision that created a character who exudes vulnerability and yet is strong, gritty and bold. Working with Abhishek and Sushant has been one of my most fulfilling creative collaborations.”

Bhumi was seen interacting with Chambal villagers for a few days to adapt herself to the role and she also learnt Bundelkhandi dialect.

Sonchiriya was co-written by Sudip Sharma who went to Chambal and talked to some ex-dacoits and revealed some interesting facts about them saying

“Some of them have more than 80 murder charges on them. Everyone has heard horror stories about the dacoits of Chambal but I’ve realized the reality is quite different from what Hindi films portray. We aim to capture that reality”.

The cast of the movie also includes Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. The movie is being shot in Chambal and Mumbai, the team has wrapped up its shoot recently. She has proved her acting skills in the movies like Dum Lagaa Ke Haisha, Toilet Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. Well, we are excitedly waiting for another lit performance by Bhumi onscreen.
