The famous Lyricist Pinky Poonawala and Singer Sourabh Joshi are back again with “Banjara song”. This is the second single after Bheege Hum for Sourabh Joshi.

Banjara is sung and composed by Sourabh Joshi and lyrics were written by Lyricist Pinky Poonawala, who previously penned lyrics for Bheege Hum.

Our team had a personal chat with Pinky Poonawala, the lyricist, and the lead in this visual feast Sourabh Joshi and received a lot of inputs about their work, future projects and much more.

AIR Staff: What is all this ‘Banjara’ About?

Sourabh – Banjara is about finding that sense of belonging. When all that you thought was yours, is gone! I was Very Much Influenced by Folk Music, so I Composed this Rajasthani folk tune with modern Instrumentation. My friend Nishant Salil Produced this Track, Amazing Musician Arshad Khan played Esraj, Rhythm and Percussions by Ankit Sonone, Electric guitar by Prabhat Raghuvanshi, Bass Guitar by Deep Gaur, the Acoustic guitar I played myself. For the chorus parts Amrita Talukder, Sudhanshu Shailendra, and Shreyas gave their voices and finally, the song was mixed by Rupjit Das.

As a Singer and Composer, this song is my second single after Bheege Hum and it was very important for me to team up with the right people. We decided to release Banjara with Strummsound, as Strumm entertainment respects artists and their creation.

Pinky – Banjara Lyrically is a song about a rootless wanderer who travels aimlessly in search of Higher Love… Someone who has given up or is trying to leave behind all worldly attachment and be the one with love that encompasses the whole universe!

AIR Staff: Can you briefly share Shoot locations, Camera and unit details?

Pinky – Just like a true Banjara, a wanderer, one who does not knows where he is headed and what he will find on the road…Team Banjara took off on a highway and decided to shoot whatever they found on the road. Director Raj Pendurkar says such videos should not be planned…they need rawness to feel real! Raj says we were fortunate to take off on an adventure and meet all beautiful people on Nasik Highway and capture the beautiful moments that Video of Banjara has.

The camera we used is Canon 5D and we were only a small unit of four, myself, Artist Sourabh Joshi, Editor Ashutosh Misra and Director Raj Pendurkar. We went ahead with the same team that worked for Bheege hum which was Sourabh’s first single. We are comfortable working with each other and that shows on camera.

Sourabh and Pinky are already ready with audio of their next song which is a romantic song to put it simply…and will be shooting it soon! Pinky is writing for various other artists, albums singles, and films… Sourabh too is kicked about his live shows and creating more songs.
