Vijay starer Mersal is released on 18^th October worldwide as Diwali Dhamaka for Tamil Audience. This movie is released in Telugu with the name Adhirindhi. Atlee is the finest director in south film industry. This is the second movie with Vijay and Atlee combination.

In this movie, Vijay is starred with Samantha, Nithya Menon, and Kajal Aggarwal. The movie is directed by Atlee Kumar and Co-written by K.V. Vijendra Prasad. The cinematography is done by G.K. Vishnu and editing is done by Ruben. Music and background score for this film is given by A.R. Rahman.

The movie budget is about Rs. 130 Crore and most of the movie is shooted in the USA. The box office collections have already crossed $300,000. Mersal movie earned Rs 3.16 crore on an opening day at the Kerala box office. Mersal collected Rs 2.25 crore in the US. Mersal earned Rs 31.50 crore in India, while its worldwide collection stands at Rs 43.50 crore.

The film, that released on Diwali, reportedly collected Rs 43.3 crore on its opening day. Released in over 4500 screens in India, Mersal saw 95% occupancy in theatres on Thursday and is said to have done a business close to Rs 70 crore. In five days, Mersal has approximately collected Rs 6.90 crore at Chennai box office.

In Kerala, Mersal is said to have grossed over ₹10 crore in five days. Mersal has stormed Tamil cinema’s biggest overseas territory, Malaysia too and created a new record for a Tamil film by collecting $1,709,939 [₹11.12 crore] from October 18 to 22.

In the first weekend, Mersal had minted Rs 3.90 crore from the 5-day weekend. By the end of 12 days, the total collection of the movie at the Chennai box office stands at Rs 11.96 crore. In the second weekend, Mersal had 453 shows in Chennai from which it has raked in Rs 2.35 crore.
