Salman Khan To Play Lead Role In An Upcoming Movie Based On 1983 World Cup
We have seen many biopics in the last few years with the likes of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom, Azhar and the recent blockbuster movie “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” but there is yet a flick to be made on India’s first major achievement in the world of cricket.

Yes, if reports are to be believed, cricket fans will soon be enjoying India greatest cricketing glory on the silver screen soon.
Recently, the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has delivered mega-hits like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ with director Kabir Khan.
The hit duo is currently busy with the shooting of Tubelight, and now they have reportedly teamed up for another upcoming movie which is based on cricket. Reports are suggesting that the project will be based on India’s history victory in 1983 World Cup.
Yes, the breaking news is that Salman Khan has been roped in to play the lead in the film which will capture the events leading to India winning the 1983 World Cup title.
Apparently, Kabir has become the superstar’s favorite director after the success of Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Reports said that Salman trusts Kabir as a director and hence is ready to team up with him for another upcoming movie after the shooting of “Tubelight.”
According to reports, this film of India’s path-breaking world cup win in 1983 will be produced by Salman Khan’s sister Alvira and her husband Atul Agnihotri.
The publication reported,
“It goes on the floors later this year, as soon as Kabir wraps up the in-progress Tubelight with Salman Khan. A-list actors who play the cricketing heroes are in the process of being finalised.”
Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Mohinder Amarnath, Kirti Azad, Krishmachari Srikkanth, Syed Kirmani, Yashpal Sharma, Balwinder Sandhu and even Sunil Gavaskar will be on board as mentors to the actors.
However, so far there has been no official announcement of the name of the actor, but they are Salman Khan is the first choice of producers.
“The journey of the 1983 team is a story of inspiration which proves that one can achieve anything if they aim for it and work for it no matter what the world thinks,” Kapil had said at the time.
Earlier in September, it was reported by the Mumbai Mirror that Kapil Dev and the others from the victorious team will guide the production team.
This will be the first time Salman Khan will play the role of a cricketer and second time the role of a sportsman after playing a wrestler in “Sultan”.
