Soha Ali Khan Opens Up On PADMAVATI Controversy, Backs Deepika Padukone
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial has been on the radar of Rajput communities, fringe outfits, and political parties, but the period drama has found support in Bollywood. With Padmavati row getting difficult by the day, the latest news suggests a delay in the release of the film. The film will not hit the screens on December 1 anymore.
Padmavati has been facing constant opposition in the form of violence and threats from members of Rajput Karni Sena ever since they disrupted the shoot of the film in Jaipur earlier this year.
The release has been deferred until further notice. Bollywood’s silence over the Padmavati controversy during the last few months has been telling. Most of the film industry’s actors and filmmakers have chosen to not comment about the protests and ridiculous demand to ban the film.
But, the veteran actor Nana Patekar, who had attended the 48th International Film Festival of India in Goa, has shared his views on the Padmavati row. He further urged the protesters to first watch the film, and not protest without even seeing what is there in the film. Soon after him, actress Soha Ali Khan has come forward making some sensational comments. She also called the ongoing incidents “disturbing” the death threats issued to Bhansali and Padukone.
“As a human being, any kind of threat of violence is very disturbing. Whether it is against Sanjay sir or Deepika, it is very worrying when such statements are issued,” Soha told in an interview. “As an artist, you are in the entertainment business, making films, playing a character, executing a script and not doing anything intentionally to offend anyone. To get a threat of violence then is incredibly worrying,” she added.
She is one of such celebrities who often stays out of the spotlight. Soha then insisted that an artiste’s primary motive is never to offend any person or group. “This particular incident has become extremely controversial. The team itself has been advised not to make any comment, so I think someone like me who is far removed and doesn’t have access to their information should not make any comments.”
Well, Deepika might be quite thankful for the massive support her film is garnering from all corners of the film industry.
