Asian Film Awards 2016: ‘Bajirao Mastani’ Beats ‘Baahubali’ To Win The Award
The 10th Asian Film Awards (AFA), was held on Thursday at the Venetian Theatre in Macau, China, honored talents across Asian cinema. The prestigious awards ceremony gathered by many celebrities and industry professionals from different film industries of Asia.
Indian films Tavar, Bombay Velvet, Maasan and Baahubali –The Beginning were nominated in one category each. While “Bajirao Mastani” was nominated in five categories, Best Film, Best Original Music, Best Editing, Best Costume Design and Best Visual Effects categories.
The stunning moment in the Awards function was that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s “Bajirao Mastani” won the best visual effects award beating “Baahubali – The Beginning,” which was one of the nominees in the category.
The award for the Best Film went to Chinese movie “The Assassin.” The Best Director Award was given to Hou Hsiao-Hsien for “The Assassin”. The movie ‘Assassin’ bagged six big awards. Best Actor Award was given to Lee Byung-Hun for “Inside Men”. Shu Qi was named Best Actress while Zhou Yun took Best Supporting Actress award.
Vicky Kaushal, who was nominated in the Best Newcomer category for his performance in “Masaan,” lost the award to “Port of Call” actress Jessie Li.
