Zubaan is a vibrant and occasionally delightful coming-of-age drama about an ambitious young man who moves to Delhi in a quest to find success in life but begins to question what that might actually mean. Despite its familiar premise, Zubaan finds a nice balance between musical and drama elements.

Zubaan opened the 20th edition of the Busan International Film Festival. This was the first time that a mainstream Bollywood film opened the biggest film festival in Asia. The soundtrack of Zubaan is composed by Ashutosh Phatak Lyrics are penned by Varun Grover, Ashutosh Phatak, Surjit Patar. Mozez Singh makes an uneven but engrossing directing debut with this portrait of an ambitious, duplicitous young man on the rise.

Vicky owns every scene and makes it his own. For a musical, the music of Zubaan by Ashutosh Phatak is good but not great. Cinematography by Swapnil Sonawane, is brilliant, especially in the night scenes and the entire Dhruvtara sequence

Final Verdict:

The film showed promise from the trailer but does not quite deliver as an overall experience. The performances by Meghna Malik, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Chanana, the lead actor Vicky Kaushal and Sarah-Jane Dias, in that order, are well worth it.
