1 In 3 Men Between 18 And 24 Years Old Have Not Had Sex In The Last Year

A new study suggests that 1 out of every 3 men in America that are in the age bracket of 18 to 24 have not had any sex in the last 1 year.

It looks like the cuffing season did not do them well last year.

That is more than 63 percent down on the 19 percent of men responding to the same survey in the year 2002.

It also offers proof that fewer adults in America aged 18 and 24 are having sex in the 21st century.

Between 2000 and 2018, a lack of sexual activity was reportedly on the rise amongst men and women that are aged 25 to 34.

The team that conducted the research, which was led by the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, said that there could be a number of reasons behind the decline in sexual activities. The reasons include:

  1. Solo entertainment
  2. Video games
  3. Stress
  4. Work
  5. Lack of intimate relationships

The study, which was published in JAMA Network Open, looked at survey data that was conducted every other year from 2000 and 2018, which includes nearly 10,000 men and women that are in the age brackets of 18 to 44.

The questionnaire that was handed out to the people that took part of the survey asked about the sexual frequency in the past year and the number of sexual partners that they have had in the past year.

Researchers later on compared the results from 2000 to 2002 to those that were taken from 2016 to 2018.

Researchers found out that the proportion of 18 to 24-year-olds having no sex in the past year has dramatically increased amongst men from 18.9 percent to 30.9 percent.

A rise was also seen amongst women, however, they were not as dramatic as they were.

From 15.1 percent in 2000 to 20002, the percentage became 19.1 percent in 2016 to 2018.

No climbs were seen either among men or women in the 35-to-44 age bracket.

The authors of the study also noted that the rise of depression and anxiety in the United States of America could have also played a role in the decline of sexual frequency.
