Arizona Police Officer Adopts 4-Year-Old Girl That He Rescued From An Abusive House
A police officer from the United States of America is currently viral on the internet right now after they adopted a 4-year-old girl that they helped rescue from an abusive household.
Not all heroes wear capes, some work the blue uniform!
In the year 2018, Lieutenant Brian Zach of the Kingman Police Department, Arizona, were called to a house.
Kaila, the girl, was being abused by her caregivers and she ended up in hospital as a result of her injuries.
The one that abused the young girl were later filed with criminal charges.
At that time, Kaila was only.
But after 2 years, she was adopted by the family of officer Zach.
That’s official by the way.
Brian and Kaila built up a rapport after he turned up at her house that day and spent time coloring with her before the detectives came to collect her.
Talking about what they did on the first meeting, Brian told Good Morning America:
We coloured, we snacked […] she held my hand and she was just this cute little thing. Once detectives came, they picked her up and took her to the hospital.
After meeting Kaila, Brian went home to Cierra, where he lives with his 2 children.
He said that he wanted Kaila to live with them.
30 months after that, the Zachs officially adopted little Kaila.
The good adoption happened on August 18, 2020.
Talking about the moment when he brought Kaila home for the first time, Brian said:
She came with a sippy cup, a bag of clothes that didn’t fit her, and that was it. Within the second day she was calling my wife ‘mom’ or ‘mommy’. I was ‘guy’ for a week or two, and then when she started preschool she learned who dad was. We lived each week not knowing if she was going to go back to her biological parents, or how long we were going to keep her. Our goal was to love and care for this little girl for as long as it happened.
The Kingman police Department’ Chief of Police, Rusty Cooper, said that Brian and Cierra, the couple that adopted the little girl, are amazing parents.
During an interview with Good Morning America, Chief Cooper said:
Lt. Brian Zach’s commitment to public safety is exemplified in his commitment and love for Kaila. Both Brian and his wife Cierra are amazing parents. They are committed to the service of others and a cause that is greater than themselves. We are proud of Brian and thankful that he and his family are part of the Kingman Police Department.
Such a great to do!
