Asus, the Chinese handset maker has finally unveiled the much-awaited ZenWatch 2 smartwatch in India today. The new watch is the successor to its previous ZenWatch. The new Asus ZenWatch 2 comes in two variant sizes such as 1.45-inch (WI502Q) and 1.63-inch (WI501Q). Asus is popular for launching smartphones with high-end specifications at an affordable price range. Recently, the company has launched a new smartphone under the ZenFone series namely Asus ZenFone Max with a huge 5000mAH battery in India.

Among the two different versions of the Asus ZenWatch, the smaller version is priced at Rs. 11,999 while the 1.63-inch model is priced at Rs. 14,999. Both the smartwatches are available to purchase via the giant E-commerce portal, Flipkart starting Tuesday. At a later point, the company added that the smartwatch will also be sold through its ASUS Exclusive Stores.

The Asus ZenWatch 2 runs Android Wear and offers Asus ZenUI integration with a slew of software features. For instance, if you wish to mute a call, you can do so just by embracing the ZenWatch 2 with your hand. You can also locate your handset using the timepiece, and manage plenty of phone settings such as Wi-Fi among others right from your smartwatch.

Specifications

The Asus ZenWatch 2 WI502Q features a 1.45-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 280 x 280 pixels along with a 273 ppi pixel density which is exclusively available in silver colour option. While the Asus ZenWatch 2 WI501Q variant is available in two colour variants such as silver and gunmetal colour options. It features a 1.63-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 320 x 320 pixels along with a pixel density of 278 ppi. Both the ZenWatch models offer 2-finger touch support.

Under the hood, both the ZenWatch 2 variants are powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC coupled with 512MB RAM. Both the Asus ZenWatch 2 models come equipped with 4GB eMMC onboard storage. In terms of connectivity, both the models support Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi. The Asus ZenWatch 2 WI502Q variant is backed by a 300mAh battery while its bigger sibling comes packed with a 400mAh battery. The company claims that the Asus ZenWatch 2 will deliver two-three days battery life on a single charge.

The Asus ZenWatch 2 W1502Q and WI501Q also share the same magnetic charging cable and have IP67 certification, which means that the smartwatch can water-resistant which can immerse into water upto 1-metre depth for upto 30 minutes. The WI501Q model comes with a 22mm rubber or leather strap while the W1502Q variant comes with an 18mm leather strap.
