Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to conduct 9th edition of Central Eligibility Test (CTET) on 21st February 2016 for which the notification was released. Candidates who are interested can check the eligibility criteria and apply for these posts. The application process will start from 4th December 2015 and last date for filling the online application is 28th December 2015. About CTET:

The Central Board of Secondary Education is a Board of Education for public and private schools, under the Union Government of India. Teacher Eligibility Test known as TET is an Indian entrance examination for teachers. The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8. Paper 1 is meant for teachers opting for Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) had vide Notification dated 23 August 2010 and 29 July 2011 laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in classes I to VIII. It had been inter alia provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools.

Eligibility Criteria:

There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate. A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score. The validity period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.

Educational Qualification:

Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V: Primary Stage

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

OR

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII: Elementary Stage

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

CTET 2016 Application Fee:

  • Paper-1 or Paper-2: Applicants belonging to the General Category/OBC should pay Rs. 600 and SC/ST/PHD should pay 300/-
  • Paper-1 and Paper-2: Applicants belonging to the General Category/OBC should pay Rs. 1000 and SC/ST/PHD should pay 500/-
