Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar paying homage to the Kargil war Heroes

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday led the nation in paying homage to the Kargil war heroes by laying a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti here. Along with Parrikar, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Navy Vice Chief P Murugesan also paid tributes to the martyr’s on the 16th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil war.Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to soldiers who died in the Kargil war. He made Ted, “Kargil Victory Day, our military valor, valor and sacrifice reminds. The supreme sacrifice on Homeland: Shatt: Shatt immortal tribute to the martyrs. ”

About Kargil War:

Kargil conflict,was an armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC). In India, the conflict is also referred to as Operation Vijay which was the name of the Indian operation to clear the Kargil sector.

The Indian army launched its final attacks in the last week of July; as soon as the Drass subsector had been cleared of Pakistani forces, the fighting ceased on July 26. The day has since been marked as Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Victory Day) in India. By the end of the war, Pakistan had to withdraw under international pressure and due to pressure from continued fighting at battle front and left India in control of all territory south and east of the Line of Control, as was established in July 1972 as per the Simla Agreement

The Kargil war, which began in May 1999, lasted for more than two months before Pakistani soldiers, a bulk of them drawn from its Northern Light Infantry, and irregulars withdrew from the mountain tops they had occupied overlooking the Srinagar-Leh highway.

On July 26, 1999, broke into Kargil on Pakistan Army had failed to win the Indian Army. This day is celebrated as a victorious day. On the occasion of heroes from Dulakuna India Gate has organized a marathon race.
