Lava Iris Atom 3 With 5-Inch Display Launched in India at Rs 4,899

Lava, the Indian smartphone manufacturing company has launched a new smartphone in the market under the Atom series dubbed Iris Atom 3 at an affordable price of Rs 4,899. The device is now listed on the company’s official website. The domestic smartphone company seems to expand its budget smartphone portfolio with the launch of the Iris Atom 3 smartphone. However, yet there is no information regarding the availability of the new Lava Iris Atom 3. The handset will be exclusively available in two color variants such as black and white color variants.

The company in a statement emphasized that the Lava Iris Atom 3 has been launched in India aiming at the first-time smartphone users. The Indian handset makers had launched a new flagship device in India namely Lava Ivory M4 Tablet with 3G connectivity support on the eve of New Year 2016. In the month of November, the company has launched an entry-level budget smartphone called Lava Iris Atom 2X in India at a price of Rs. 4,499. Now, the company has rolled out a new smartphone for the smartphone users in India.

Specifications

The Lava Iris Atom 3 sports a 5-inch FWVGA display with a pixel resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The handset is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 512MB RAM. On the storage front, the device includes an internal storage of 8GB which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The Lava Iris Atom 3 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system out-of-the-box.

On the Camera front, the device comes equipped with a 5MP rear camera with LED flash. On the other side, the device packs a 2MP front-facing camera. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone include GPRS/ EDGE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, and 3G. The smartphone is backed by a 2000mAh battery. The device measures 144 x 72 x 9mm and weighs 150 grams.

Presently, the company has a team of about 250 people here working on these areas and a larger team of around 550 in China. “We are making India a major manufacturing hub and in the process, we are expanding design, testing, and R&D teams also. We will invest about Rs. 200 crores in the next one-one and half years,” Lava International CMD Hari Om Rai told PTI. He added the company will more than double the headcount in these areas.

“We will bring the entire manufacturing ecosystem to India. Our plan is to expand exporting to other countries next year and hopefully, by 2019, we will export to China itself,” he said. Lava is planning to invest around Rs 200 crores over 18 months for strengthening its design and testing, operations in the country as it strives to make India a larger export hub for its handsets in the succeeding few years.
