President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday night cut short his visit to Odisha and returned to New Delhi after his wife Suvra was hospitalised following illness. Official sources said Suvra, who has been ill for sometime, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a hospital in Delhi.

According to reports, she suddenly collapsed on Friday evening. “It does not seem to be a heart condition though nothing is ruled out at the moment,” said a source.

“She was brought to the hospital with a respiratory problem. She is a heart patient and has been kept in the intensive care unit,” a hospital spokesperson told IANS.

President cuts short Odisha sojourn after wife gets hospitalised:

The President was on a two-day visit to Odisha and he was scheduled to attend a convocation of National Law University at Cuttack.

The President paid performed puja at Puri’s Jagannath Temple on Friday morning and later visited Puri beach to see sand sculptures of famous artist Sudarshan Patnaik.
