TCL, the Chinese Electronics company has launched a new smartphone namely Pride T500L in India on Wednesday. TCL is the parent company of the Alcatl OneTouch brand that has announced to manufacture smartphones by starting a joint venture under the name of Alcatel Mobile Phones in 2004. Later, TCL completely switched to the TCL brand by ceasing the Alcatel brand. Now, the Chinese firm has unveiled Pride T500L in India which is exclusively available to purchase via the leading E-commerce retailer, Snapdeal.

The new TCL Pride T500L is priced at an affordable price of Rs. 10, 499 exclusively available via Snapdeal. One of the highlights about this smartphone is that the device comes with an Iris Retina Scanner. These days, most of the smartphone manufacturing companies are landing their devices with Fingerprint scanners.

This has become a common feature for every mid and premium Android-powered smartphones that protects the smartphone. TCL has introduced a different way to secure a smartphone using an iris scanner. TCL has launched the new Pride T500L with an Iris Retina Scanner which allows the users to unlock the device after the front camera scans their retina. Specifications

The new TCL Pride T500L sports a 5-inch full-HD IPS display with a pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The handset is powered by an octa-core processor which is clocked at 2.5GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. On the Storage front, the smartphone includes an inbuilt storage of 16GB which can be further expandable via microSD card. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.

On the Camera front, the device comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera that has EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) along with an LED flash and autofocus. The device also sports an 8-megapixel fixed focus front camera. In terms of Connectivity, the smartphone includes 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Micro-USB. Both the SIMs of the smartphone can support 4G LTE.

One of the alluring features of this new smartphone is the iris scanner for providing security to the handset. Iris scanner is something related to the Fingerprint scanner which the Microsoft’s Windows devices are now customary with and this feature has been used in the recently launched Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL smartphones. Iris Scanner is not a new feature as there have been some Android smartphones in the past like the ViewSonic V55 and the Fujitsu Arrows NX F-04G flagship smartphones that had an iris scanner feature. ViewSonic is a company which is mostly associated with displays launched a smartphone V55 with iris scanner in 2004.
