Though IPL team Rising Pune Supergiants lost their chances of qualifying for the playoffs, Dhoni team stepped in with a great confidence to win the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. But the KKR bowlers restricted the RPS batsmen from not scoring runs and picked wickets in comfortably. When Captain Dhoni stepped out to bat at No.6, KKR Captain Gambhir showed his skills and played with Dhoni’s mindset.

As soon as Dhoni stepped in, Gambhir surrounded Dhoni with 5 fielders including Wicket-keeper to stop Dhoni hitting singles or twos as he was good at scoring them. It really worked and restricted Dhoni scoring 8 runs in 22 balls. That was great Captaincy skills from Gambhir.

Gambhir brought himself at silly point, added two slips, a short leg and a short cover as the move certainly worked as Dhoni failed to get the scoreboard ticking.

“We wanted to create pressure and get him out early to brighten our prospects. Left-handers have it easy, while Mahibhai being a right-hander we wanted to go for an attacking field.”
