Twitter Introduces New ‘Highlights’ Feature on Android
Twitter, the most popular social networking sites have rolled out a new feature called Highlights on the Android platform that enables users to view a summary of Twitter activities depending on the earlier preferences set by the user. This newly unveiled feature on Android is very useful for the user that relevance in turn saves time and struggle to go through the whole timeline or jump from one page to the other. The micro-blogging website, Twitter’s Highlights feature gives a short summary of utmost fascinating things for you on Twitter which will be delivered via push notifications.
The new Highlights feature on your Android app will support over 35 languages. Highlights will be displayed on the user’s Android mobile a ‘Rich Notification’. Once you click on the notification, you will be able to view the curated content which is presented in the form of a simple-card style interface. As soon as the user swipes through all the ‘highlights’, then they will be moved to their Twitter feed.
Highlights feature on Twitter is the fast, simple summary that enable users to go through the clutter of their chronological timeline so that the user can easily and quickly catch up on the interesting stuff which is most relevant to them.
Volodymyr Zhabiuk, a senior software engineer at Twitter wrote in a blog post that says,
“While your home timeline is a great place to browse and engage with Tweets, we know it can be challenging to find the time to get through everything you’d like to see. No matter how much time you spend with Twitter, we want you to get the most out of using it.”
He also explained, “To create your Highlights, we look at things like the accounts and conversations that are popular among people you follow, tweets from people you’re closely tied to, topics and events that are trending in your area or within your network, and people that are popular or trending among people you follow.”
Zhabiuk also added, “We’re rolling out this experience on Android first and will consider bringing Highlights to other platforms in the future.”
