After a week of the announcement, Xiaomi finally unveiled Mi Band 1S which is now official. The Mi Band 1S is the successor to its Mi Band fitness tracker which was launched last year. The Company has unveiled the device a little early. In fact, the device was scheduled to launch its updated Mi Band 1S in China on 11th of November. However, the device is now official that comes with an Apple Watch-like optical heart rate sensor which is capable of tracking the heart rate.

Xiaomi Mi Band 1S is an updated device that comes added a new functionality, a Heart-Rate Sensor. The inclusion of a Heart Rate monitor at the back of the main metallic unit of the fitness tracker has extended it in both length, breadth and depth and measures as 37mmx13.6mmx9.9mm and weighs 5.5 grams. Xiaomi Mi Band comes with an improved silicone strap and an aluminium alloy-made tracker module with ADI sensor. The new updated Mi Band 1S has an additional and most important functionality – Optical Heart-Rate Sensor which is similar to the feature in Apple Watch that offers an advanced fitness tracking experience over its predecessor.The Xiaomi Mi Band 1S has an IP67 rating to authenticate dust and water-resistant capabilities. The band can also be submerged in up to 3 feet of water for about 30 minutes.

The Mi Fit app is compatible with the device running Android 4.4 (KitKat) and iOS 7.0. The Mi Band 1S is fueled by a 45mAh-embedded battery and the company claims that the battery will last up to 20 days. Coming to the connectivity options, the Mi Band 1S supports Bluetooth 4.0 (LE). Also, the device has amazing features that has the capability to calculate the number of calories burned during exercise. It also maintains a track on the number of steps taken as well.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 1S has an additional feature known as ‘smart unlock’ which was actually  designed for the Mi Band for MIUI 6 running Xiaomi smartphones. The smart unlock feature can be used to unlock your Xiaomi phone and vibrates to alert you that a notification has been sent to your handset.

Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi Band 1S will be carrying a price tag of $15 (approximately Rs 995). The wearable will be available in China for purchase starting November 11.  Xiaomi is one of the popular smartphone manufacturers and recently, a news went viral that the company is planning to launch its E-Commerce site Mi.com in the US. According to the reports, Xiaomi is the second largest wearables manufacturer in the world at the time, with a 24.6% market share.
