A 21-year-old Chinese man was caught on cam walking inside a hospital in China with a crossbow arrow lodged in his chest.
The man in the video, who has been identified as 21-year-old Peng, accidentally shot himself while loading his crossbow.
Peng was so lucky because the bolt only missed his heart by just 0.2 inches.
Images and videos that were shared on social media show Peng waiting at the accident and emergency department of Guangxi People’s Hospital in Nanning, in south China.
The man was remarkably calm as he waited outside the hospital.
2 men could also be seen flanking him on either side to give him support.
According to reports on the internet, the 21-year-old man was driven to the hospital shortly after shooting the 15-inch plastic bolt into the left side of his chest on June 6, 2020.
Peng underwent successful 1-hour surgery to have the 15-inch plastic bolt removed from his chest.
The news was confirmed by the hospital.
Dr. Luo, a doctor that handled the case of Peng, said:
When Mr Peng arrived, the bolt was about 1 centimetre from his heart muscle. We spent an hour operating on him, removing a section of damaged lung tissue, patching it up and stopping the bleeding. His surgery went very well. He has since regained consciousness and is in good spirits. He can speak and eat without issue. He will be discharged in the coming days. As he’s young and healthy, I expect him to make a full recovery.
It is believed that Peng purchased the crossbow online for just 800 RMB so he could hunt with it.
After the incident, the parents of Peng threw it away.
