Medics in China were left stunned when a baby emerged with its umbilical cord wrapped tightly around its neck 6 times, yes 6 times.

Luckily, things did not go south and the umbilical cord was removed by the doctors safely.

The delivery took place at the Yichang Central Hospital in the city of Yichang in Western China’s Hubei province.

Li Hua, the director of obstetrics, said that this is the first time in her 23 years of the profession to see such a thing.

She added:

I have been working for 23 years, and this is the first time I have seen in umbilical cord wrapped around a baby’s neck like this. To find the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby’s neck is not uncommon and if it’s long enough, will usually not cause problems.

The best thing about this is that the baby suffered no serious or life-threatening consequences because of the umbilical cord.

Medics said that they had detected that the cord was wrapped around the neck of the baby.

However, they did not know how many times it was wrapped around the neck.

The mother, Dai, thanked the medics and said that she is glad that her baby has no problems and is fine and well.
