Bharti Airtel last week rolled out a pilot of its banking services in Rajasthan and got a great response. One thing that attracted everyone was its interest rate i.e. 7.25%p.a & a Personal Accidental Insurance of Rs. 1 Lakh for every saving account.

To further attract the masses, Airtel on Friday announced another super-duper offer for the customers. This was to attract more and more customers, amidst demonetization.

Yes, as an effort to promote cashless transactions post demonetisation, Bharti Airtel-arm Airtel Payments Bank said that for every rupee that the customer’s deposit, they will get 1 minute of talk time on their Airtel Mobile FREE FREE FREE. This benefit is applicable on first-time deposits only, Airtel said.

Shashi Arora, CEO and MD of Airtel Payments Bank stated that,

“We are leveraging Airtel’s telecom ecosystem to bring banking services to the doorsteps of every Indian. We are confident that this additional benefit along with the industry-best interest rate on deposits will encourage customers to open accounts with us and give a big boost to customer acquisition.”

So if a customer opens an account with a deposit of Rs 500 then he/she will get 500 minutes of free talk time on his/her Airtel mobile number. Customers can use this talk time only to make Airtel to Airtel calls all over India and has a validity of 30 days. However, this benefit is applicable on first-time deposits only.

Airtel believes this will boost the digital payments ecosystem hugely and reduce dependence on cash.This Payments Bank has worked well for Airtel and in the 1st 2 days itself, around 10,000 accounts were open.
