This woman had rocked her world with a cancer diagnosis and now turned to social media to spread the awareness and educate the people to some idea of suspicious growths and marks on their bodies.

Melanie Williams, 36 had first noticed a dark spot appearing under her thumbnail. She thought it would be a minor fungal infection. She was about to have entire world rocked.

She posted on Facebook that it was not a wart but cancer. The truth was much worse. Isn’t it?

She then was diagnosed with melanoma, a form of skin cancer that can be cured by a surgery.

“I’ve been lucky, cancer [hasn’t] spread and it’s being removed next week along with half of my thumb,” she wrote. “This may not have been the case if I’d left it and not got it checked out.”

She also mentioned that her skin cancer appeared quickly within weeks.

“I don’t want your sympathy, I want more awareness,” she wrote. “Therefore, please go and get any changes or growths on your skin checked out, please tell people around you to get checked as well.”
