CCTV Footage: 26-Year-Old Delhi Woman Gang Raped By Five Men, Manages To Escape By Jumping Off The Balcony

The issue of woman’s individual freedom in taking decisions and the personal struggle of every woman is still beyond solutions.

After going through some rigorous social reforms in order to unwrap the woman from getting lost under the orthodox norms, a notable progress is seen especially in urban parts of the country.

However, in some urban regions of the country, the objectivity of women is observed despite all the development.

Such incident took place in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar area where five men gang-raped a 26-year-old woman, later arrested. They locked her in the apartment flat and raped her in turns till the early morning when she jumped off from the balcony to escape.

According to the sources, the victim filed a complaint at Pandav Nagar police station and later details indicate that all the accused- Lakshay Bhalla, Vikas Kumar, Naveen, Swarit and Prateek work in the different private call centres around the city.

Officials said that the woman was allegedly taken to Pandav Nagar flat by Vikas, she’s a mother of two kids, in south Delhi’s Munirka area. Details indicate that Vikas allegedly left the flat right after telling the woman that he has some work and he will pick her up in the morning after finishing the work.

She included in her statement that she knew Vikas for the past few months. Last night, Vikas met her in Munirka and asked her to accompany him to his friend’s house for a party that evening, where they forced her to consume alcohol.

“The woman left with him and on the way met two of his friends. The three brought her to the flat where their other friends were already present. The woman protested about the presence of others,” said a police official.

One of them locked her in the flat and threatened her of dire consequences if she raised an alarm or attempted to escape from the place. However, at the early 5.30 AM, the woman managed to reach the balcony and jumped. She alerted some passersby about the sexual assault she was subjected to. One of them informed the police.

“The woman was admitted to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for medical treatment and examination. She has sustained minor injuries in her legs,” the officer added.

After a prolonged investigation, police stated that further probe will be on as the woman has been changing her statements frequently.
