Hyderabad Police Launched ‘Hawk Eye’ Mobile App For Women Safety

News, Cyberabad: The Hawkeye mobile application was launched in Cyberabad East and West commissionerates on Thursday. Cyberabad West commissioner Naveen Chand and Cyberabad East commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat launched the app together, as a part of responsive policing.

The app, which was launched in Hyderabad a year ago, has more than 2 lakh downloads and will soon be launched across Telangana. Mr Naveen Chand said that the app was very helpful for women working in the IT corridor and many employees have been using it extensively to receive updates on traffic issues etc.

The mobile application would improve citizen policing by involving them in curbing crimes, unlawful activities and traffic violations.

Speaking on the occasion, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police (East) , Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat said,

“This application is next step towards empowering public to be citizen police. We are empowering citizens so that they can become part of policing – People and police. This partnership will be further boosted through applications like ‘Hawk Eye’”.

He said this app has features like ‘Woman safety while on travel’, SOS button for accessing help in case of emergency. People can register details of domestic helps, workers, tenants with police, enrollment for community policing, access all contact numbers by Cyberabad East and West police and get status report of information furnished, the police officer said.

Citizen Police can report incidents of traffic rule violations, crimes, violations by police, suggestions for improved policing, report good work done by police, he said, adding that there will be live interaction on this app.

People can also use this app to report against erring policemen by taking photographs or videos and then uploading them on it. The app would also allow the user to register tenant details, servants working at home, track status of an already registered complaint, access contact numbers of police, register themselves for community policing, traffic notifications and report traffic jams.
