Sanjay Leela Bansali Was Not Punched, Slapped Because Of Padmavati. Here Is The Serious Reason Behind This

This anti-morality news hit the headlines once again after the prominent film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was slapped and assaulted in Jaipur, right after few hours of this incident his colleague Bollywood directors immediately stepped into the issue condemning the attack, they showed their huge support to Bansali. Karan Johar is the first among them, he took to his Twitter handle supporting the Padmavati auteur.

For a while, the whole cast, crew and the Bollywood fraternity froze thinking about the reason behind this uncivilised behaviour of the locals. Then why was he attacked, it is believed that the liberals took laws in their hands being intolerant towards the freedom of expression being utilised by Bollywood breaking the boundaries.

Bhansali’s Padmavati, for which he was in Jaipur, is inspired by Rani Padmini’s tale and was thereby supposed to be besmirching the name of the Rajput queen. Despite all the valid reasons, it is heard that the movie will have Deepika Padukone’s Padmini romancing Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji in a dream sequence. Though there is no evidence stating such scenes are included in the movie.

Breaking the rumours and proofless beliefs, the protagonist Deepika took on to her Twitter handle said:

“As Padmavati, I can assure you that there is absolutely no distortion of history. Our only endeavour is & has always been to share with the world the story of this courageous & powerful woman in the purest form there is.”

Summarising the issue, it is quite clear that the mob attacked this man over a film which is not even made, over a script they had no chance of getting their hands on.

This is not the first incident of such kind, earlier Khans were criticised at every possible situation, be it for featuring the Pakistani actors. Even Karan’s patriotism was questioned.

Despite the reasons behind the issues, the celebs were the people who apologised all the time, though they said their films being boycotted and banned don’t just affect them but the team and crew as well.

Now, right after the attack from bullies, the news reports cited a police official as saying that the Padmavati makers have “assured that they will not shoot here and will pack up.” So, instead of promising safety to the crew, the police are reporting deliberately ordered the crew to leave the shooting spot.

Against the odds that happened then and now, Karan stated, “Having been through many instances of turmoil during a film shoot or release, I understand Sanjay’s emotion at this point…I stand by him… Am appalled at what has happened with Sanjay Bhansali….this is the time for all us as an industry to stand by our people and fraternity!!”

Followed by Karan, Anurag Kashyap, now added his voice saying, “Can once the whole film industry comes together and take a stand, and refuse to be a pony that all … ride on??.

So, now it appears like it is time for Bollywood to stand as one body, as a force because as a changemaker the power that Bollywood enjoys is unparalleled. To give into parochial forces will not just be unfortunate for the industry, it will be unfortunate for us as a nation.

It has been a few weeks, one cannot simply forget the words said by the legendary Meryl Streep in the Golden Globe awards ceremony, “As my, as my friend, the dear departed Princess Leia, said to me once: ‘Take your broken heart, make it into art.” Now, what Karan, Kashyap and Bhansali can do is far better considering this.
