Dressed immaculately in black, carrying rifles or just standing at ease behind the personality, bodyguards and security personnel exemplify poise and determination.

The one thing that stands out in their attire are the sunglasses. If you have ever observed, you must have seen that security guards or bodyguards of a VIP always wear sunglasses. Why exactly do these guys all wear sunglasses, all the time? Does it give them some added advantage?

It is not just for style for sure! If you too have ever wondered why, here’s the answer:

The bodyguards are trained to look after their leaders in case of any unanticipated event. The shades not only make them look elegant and smart but has hidden benefits also. Here are some of them.

#1. Misleads Attackers:

Security personnel keeps their eyes roving across the entire area all the time. They don’t want anyone to know where they are looking at and this way, they can keep an eye on everyone without their knowledge. It helps the security guards sense sudden movement better.

#2. Protection In Case Of Blasts:

In case someone starts firing bullets suddenly or there is a bomb blast, then it is natural that eyes of a person get closed for a while, but security guards can’t afford to close their eyes in these situations as well and sunglasses help them in keeping their eyes open. It protects the wearer’s eyes. Also, as the glass of these sunglasses is specially created, it can help them see right through the blast or the attack without any damage to the glasses or cracks appearing. That is why the army is also often given high-end glasses to wear during missions.

#3. Help Protect From External Objects:

The primary aim of the guards or the security is to protect the target from an unwarranted attack and at some times particularly foggy or dusty places they need to be extremely alert. The glasses shield the wearer’s eyes and help them see clearly even during the haze.

#4. Hide Their Emotions:

Wearing sunglasses helps the wearer protect his eyes from emotion. Even if the other person managed to surprise or shock him, the attacker won’t be able to see the shock as the sunglasses will hide the eyes. They are trained to understand a person’s body language and if they find something wrong, they can take an action accordingly. It helps the wearer to recover quickly and plan a counter-attack without giving the attacker an upper hand.

#5. Why Black Glasses? – To Avoid Glares From Sunlight:

Bodyguards sunglasses are always black in color. Dark glasses help avoid direct sunlight and glares and also give the eye a neutral black tone making it easy to see beyond color restrictions. It helps the security personnel blink less and keep eyes open for a longer period.
