On February 25, the country woke up to the shocking news of one of a legendary actress of Bollywood Sridevi’s death. Indian cinema lost the versatile actress and gems Sridevi who breathe her last in a family function in Dubai. She was only 54 and cause of her death was a major cardiac arrest.

Sridevi’s untimely death has left a void in the entire film fraternity in India. Many celebrities and politicians took Twitter to share their grief but her demise is perhaps the biggest loss to her family. It was just five months before her elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor’s Bollywood debut, Sridevi died in Dubai.

She was in Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding when she suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday night, leaving her family, fans, and Bollywood in shock. While her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor accompanied Sridevi to the wedding in Dubai, Jhanvi decided to stay behind in Mumbai to shoot for her debut film Dhadak.

According to the sources, the details of last moments of Sridevi in Dubai hotel room were revealed. The sources said that Sridevi was getting ready for dinner when she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest in her room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel. But the speculations say that the actual reason behind the female superstar’s death is yet to be known and the Dubai police are investigating Boney Kapoor and the hotel staff regarding the incident. There are rumors that say there went something wrong between the husband and wife and it led to her death.

We all know that Sridevi is the second wife of Boney Kapoor who already had two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. Thus, Sridevi is a stepmother to Arjun Kapoor. Since the time Arjun made his debut in Bollywood, there were quite a few speculations about him not being a cordial relationship with his stepmother. And that he held grudges against her. After several speculations and rumor, Arjun opened up about his equation with his stepmother Sridevi.

They both share a cold relation with each other. Although they are both not as close to each other, Arjun Kapoor’s reaction to his stepmother was very sorrowful. In an interview, he revealed that they share a cordial relationship with each other and there is no ill will or animosity between them. When asked if he held anything against Sridevi, he had stated, I am sure I’ve had various degrees of emotions against her (Sridevi) and him (Boney Kapoor).

When asked about the reports that she is quite encouraging of Arjun’s career and chats with her, Arjun clarified, I am sure she is but not me per se. As in, I’ve never sat down face to face with her and had a chat about how she liked my work or is she following. I am sure she is, but we never had like.”

Arjun Kapoor was shooting in Amritsar when he got the news of his step-mother’s death. The shocking news struck him hard and he started crying bitterly in front of all the people present on the set. Arjun Kapoor is quite sensitive even after his cold relationship with his stepmother. He left the film shoot in Amritsar to attain Sridevi’s funeral in Mumbai.
