On February 25, the country woke up to the shocking news of one of a legendary actress of Bollywood Sridevi’s death. Indian cinema lost the versatile actress and gems Sridevi who breathe her last in a family function in Dubai. She was only 54 and cause of her death was a major cardiac arrest.

Sridevi’s untimely death has left a void in the entire film fraternity in India. Many celebrities and politicians took Twitter to share their grief but her demise is perhaps the biggest loss to her family. It was just five months before her elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor’s Bollywood debut, Sridevi died in Dubai.

She was in Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding when she suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday night, leaving her family, fans, and Bollywood in shock. While her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor accompanied Sridevi to the wedding in Dubai, Jhanvi decided to stay behind in Mumbai to shoot for her debut film Dhadak.

Witnessing her work, the government of India awarded her Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor, in 2013. Sadma, Chandni, Himmatwala, ChaalBaaz, Mr. India, Nagina, Mawali, Tohfa, and Gumrah are some of her most remarkable films.

To everyone’s surprise, after working in Judaai, Sridevi took a 15-year break from movies only to be back to winning hearts in her second innings with ‘English Vinglish’ in 2012. She was last seen in 2017 film MOM. Her most memorable on-screen pairing was with her brother-in-law Anil Kapoor, while her most successful films were produced by husband Boney Kapoor.

It was more shocking because she had been in good health and hardly had any ailments. Her last pictures before the untimely demise were from the wedding and will always be remembered as happy moments. A video of Sridevi dancing with brother-in-law Anil Kapoor during the wedding has been doing the rounds on social media.

Anil Kapoor and Sridevi worked together in over 12 Hindi films including super hits like Laadla, Judaai, Mr. India, Lamhe and Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. The duo was not just related but was also one of the most hit jodis in the 90s. In the video, Anil Kapoor can be seen shaking a leg with bhabhi Sridevi on hit number Chittiyan Kalaiyan. She looked very happy and radiant as she matched steps with him.

After all the legal formalities and paperwork, Sridevi’s mortal remains reached India last night after a three-day wait. The cause of actress’ death was revealed as ‘accidental drowning’ in a bathtub in her hotel bathroom by Dubai Police Investigation team.
