Police Report: On Wednesday, 4 people attained injuries after a bridge collapsed in Goa across the Zuari River.

The bridge collapse on Wednesday afternoon, reports suggest that the reason behind the collapse of the bridge is that its metal scaffolding support broke.

A spokesperson from the South Goa District Administration said that 4 workers attained injuries and were rushed to a hospital, the spokesperson added that a probe has been launched.

The Dilip Buildcon Ltd, the company that is constructing the bridge released a statement and said “prima facie this scaffolding failure is most likely due to soil displacement from the (nearby) hillock. Thankfully, there has not been loss of blood, casualties… Dilip Buildcon prides itself on its impeccable safety and quality records. We have been working since April 2016, with an accident-free record.”

The 8 lance bridge of Zuari is responsible for connecting the South and North districts of Goa and is one of the poll promises of the BJP led government in the state of Goa.
