Indian Engineer Wins Prestigious MIT Award For A Concept Of Train That Travels Over Your City’s Traffic

Indian Engineer Receives MIT Award:

How do you add trains to a city without adding to traffic and setting up ugly concrete structures?

Indian Railways Engineer Ashwani Kumar Upadhyaya has taken up the question and answered it with the concept of “Caterpillar Train” (cTrain). This was appreciated in the MIT Climate CoLab competition and has won an award.

The concept was voted the best solution, among 29 submissions in the Transportation category of MIT’s challenge. The cTrain is supported by thin arches which hold 2 levels of c Train traffic. The train travels at 62 miles per hour on elevated tracks.

The cTrain concept was presented at the 14th World Conference on Transport Research in China. It is set to present to leaders from businesses, non-profit organizations, governments, and communities.
