Toshiba Transmission Bags Contract For 8,000 Distribution Transformers In Kenya

In Hyderabad, Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd is supplying to Kenya around 8,000 distribution transformers made at the company`s facility. In an announcement, TTDI stated this regarding the bagging of Rs 226 crore ($ 34 million) contract from Kenya power & lighting company.

Katsutoshi, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI said, “our commitment to establish India as a manufacturing base and export hub for African countries. It is a testimony to the superior quality products made in India by Toshiba.”

8000 Transformer To Be Supplied To Kenya From Hyderabad

“Our recent capacity expansion at the Hyderabad factory with $30 million (investment) has allowed us to expand the business further and provide cost-competitive products by localising procurement, design and manufacturing within India,” Mr. Toda said.

TTDI received an order in September 2015, around 4,000 distribution transformers from KPLC, was completed by March 2016, a release from Toshiba firm said.

Distribution and installation of transformers along transmission and sub station networks are connecting power plant and end consumers. They are in Nairobi, Mombasa and another surrounding region from part of a contract. Starting from June the order should be fulfilled over a period of three years.
