Dying stars could give birth to DNA

American scientists have discovered that cosmic hotspots near dying stars are prime locations for forming molecular precursors to DNA. U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and University of Hawaii at Manoa has done research on cosmic hot spots. They found cosmic hotspots near dying stars could be excellent environments for forming DNA.

Dying stars could give birth to DNA :

In the research experiment American scientists has created  conditions around carbon-rich, dying stars to find formation pathways of the important molecules. They have found that it could be the perfect environments for the creation of these nitrogen-containing molecular rings.

Scientist Musahid Ahmed said, “Its first time to  at a hot reaction like this, adding that it’s not easy for carbon atoms to form rings that contain nitrogen, but these experiments paved a new path for the possibility of a hot gas phase reaction, the “cosmic barbeque.”

The Researcher made an experiment using an Advanced Light Source device, also called a hot nozzle. They simulate the pressures and temperatures near carbon-rich stars. They injected a gas made of a nitrogen-containing single ringed carbon molecule and two short carbon-hydrogen molecules called acetylene into the device to see which molecules would be formed, because they are the key components of nucleobases that give rise to DNA.

Ahmed says, no one had spent much time looking there for nitrogen-containing carbon rings. They have focused on interstellar medium of stars. Many astronomers have looking for signatures of these nitrogen-containing double carbon rings called quinoline.

All these experiments made clear that the work for finding were DNA has generated and where there are the possibilities for forming DNA. From this experiments it has made clear that in the hot environments there is possibility for key molecules of quinoline and isoquinoline can be synthesized. This molecules formed are ejected  with the stellar wind to the interstellar medium.
