MIT Global Startup Workshop 2016 To Be Held In Hyderabad

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has chosen Hyderabad this year for its coming edition of MIT Global Startup Workshop (MIT-GSW) in March. The institute is organizing a three-day workshop for startups from March 21-23 in partnership with the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE). This is an international event which will see participants from more than 70 countries.

The MIT GSW is touted as premier global training and networking event for entrepreneurs.

MIT-GSW is a premier global training and networking event for young entrepreneurs, which is being organized since 1998 in various international cities. The event will take place at the Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC) in the city. The Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre is the hotel associated with the event.

There are applications only for 400 people for the event.

Participants can apply through 2016.mitgsw.org.

The deadline for applications is February 25.

The Hyderabad workshop is being partnered with Catalyzer Startup accelerator, along with local T-Hub and IIIT-H. Some of the best business minds are advisors for the event including people from India. R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and Chairman, Adi Godrej, Narayan Murthy, Rajib B Lall and Amandeep Singh are some of the Indians who serve as advisors.

According to the MIT GSW, Key deliverables to the conference this year are:

1. Unparalleled access to mentors: recruiting 1 mentor for every 10 attendees.

2. International competitions: elevator pitch and business plan (cash prizes) competitions.

3. Hands-on training: providing multiple hands-on activities where attendees do work in small groups, and with mentors, on business plans and pitches.

4. Monitored profiles of attendees: setting up a new registration process to monitor representation at the workshop of gender/nationality/skills with three main profiles: creative, tech, business.
