Godavari Pushkaralu is a Hindu festival being celebrated from 14 July 2015 for a period of twelve days. This festival occurs once every 144 years, corresponding of the 12-year Godavari Pushkaram cycle. The first 12 days of the Godavari Pushkaram are known as “Aadhi Pushkaram” and the last 12 days are titled “Anthya Pushkaram”. Pushkaralu refers to the worship of the river in which the god Pushkar appears every 12 years. This year 2015, Jupiter enters Leo on 14th July 2015 at 6.26 AM, when the Maha Pushkaralu begins, and ends after 12 days on 25th July 2015. During Godavari Pushkaram 2015, there are around 200 special trains have been arranged for the passengers. The reservation counters for these special trains have already opened from 28-6-2015, 8:00 AM. These trains will run from 12th July, 2015 onwards.

The special trains reach Rajahmundry from various locations of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. More 14 trains run as from: 7 trains towards Vijayawada, 5 towards Vizag and 2 towards Kakinada (KKD). Tran numbers between 07701 and 07714 will be the numbers allotted trains for Godavari Pushkaralu 2015. Other than these special trains official announcement for changes in regular time schedule, stamps and adding of excess bogis to the regular trains need to get permitted yet. These trains are scheduled between 13th July, 2015 and 26th July, 2015. In addition to the special trains, extra bogies will be added to 16 existing trains. Trains in this season which run between Kakinada-Hyderabad-Kakinada routes will be diverted to Vijayawada, Guntur and Nalagonda and will reach destination.

 Godavari Pushkaralu 2015

Telangana government has announced Godavari Pushkaralu 2015 tour packages. These tour packages will be from Hyderabad to various other places which will start from 13th July till 25th of July. This starts at 6:00 AM in the morning and ends at 9: 30 PM in the night.

According to Hindu mythology, every 12 years the god Pushkar enters one of the 12 holy rivers of India. One who bathes in the river during this time will be cleansed of their sins. “Godavari Pushkaramalu” has been adopted by the state governments for this festival, and a special organization under the same name has also been instituted to address all issues related to the smooth functioning of the festive event. A religious symbolic is called the “Godavari Harathi”, a ritual of worship with a number of lamps, similar to the Ganga Aarti that is conducted on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi.
