Last time Mr Hazare was in the capital to protest against the Land Acquisition Bill, he shared stage with Kejriwal. The Delhi chief minister had even invited him to the secretariat, but Mr Hazare did not go there as he was “pre-occupied”.

On Saturday evening, Mr Hazare left for the national capital from the Pune airport. Hazare once announced launching an indefinite fast on October 2 in Delhi over the Land Bill and to press for OROP.

I will launch the fast at Ramlila ground in Delhi on October 2,” Mr Hazare, who recently wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the twin issues, had told reporters at his native village Ralegan Siddhi in Ahmednagar district.

This 78-year-old Gandhian activist will also be joining former defence personnel protesting against the Centre for non-implementation of One Rank One Pension scheme (OROP) at the Jantar Mantar today.
