‘Vote For Us To Continue Eating Beef’ Says MIM Party President Asaduddin Owaisi In GHMC Election Campaign

Beef-Ban, this word made a sensational controversy in India since few months. The Indian Government and all the parties had made politics over the beef ban. But the politics over beef is not over yet. Member of Parliament from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi today made some comments over the issue while he was addressing a public gathering ahead of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election on February 2.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief asked people to vote for his party’s candidates if they want to continue eating beef. “I am not trying to scare you. But, the fact is if we (MIM) don’t come to power, there may be a scope for the ban on beef (in Hyderabad) on the pretext of faith,” the All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader said.

The Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad said such a ban will hit the poor and also beef traders hard as it happened in Maharashtra. He also accused the BJP-led government in Maharashtra of targeting poor Muslims and Dalits through its decision to ban beef. “Since Modi took over as Prime Minister, the quantity of beef exported from India has gone up. And if my sources are right, beef export has gone up by 17 percent. What is Modi doing about it,” Owaisi said.

“There is a ban on cow slaughter all over. In Maharashtra, the BJP-led Government brought a law to extend the ban on bulls and bullocks. Even if it (these animals) is ill you cannot slaughter it,” Owaisi said. “If someone else comes to power (in GHMC), it (beef ban) may become a reality.”
