Rescue and relief operations continued in full swing in Chennai with over a hundred people taken to safety places by teams of Army, IAF and NDRF. Due to the floods caused by heavy rains in the city, some areas have been completely submerged, with water rising up to the second storey of many buildings. Those who have been transferred to safe places by IAF include 50 students from SRM University and a pregnant woman who was airlifted from one of the worst affected areas in the city.

Here in this video you can watch Sukanya (29), who is seven months pregnant, along with her three-year-old child was airlifted from her home in Medumbakkam, near Guindy, one of the worst-affected areas in Chennai. She was brought Tambaram Air Base in a Chetak helicopter, and then immediately taken to the Base Hospital.
