India has been a colony for the British for more than 200 years. We might have a thousand reasons to hate the brutality they have shown on our culture and its significance, but here’s this man from Britain who might give us a reason to believe that not every Englishman is same.

The story of this British retiree, who recently finished his walk from Kanyakumari to Kolkata that stretches out more than 2,500 staggering Kilometres has gone viral on Social Media. He did this in order to collect funds for a Kolkata-based charity named ‘Future Hope’.

This astonishing walker, Patrick Baddeley began his journey from Kanyakumari, and after walking past Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Orissa reached Kolkata by the end of this year’s February.

Patrick labelled his odyssey as K-Walk and his initial collections were 11,757 British pounds, which roughly means more than Rs 9.5 lakh from 124 donors. Baddeley has dedicated this walk to the memory of his late daughter Katie and even stated his experiences during the Journey on his Facebook page.

He named his campaign as ‘JustGiving’, going into details, he said:

“I first went to India as a long-haired student in 1973. Thus began a love affair that has continued to this day.”

“I retired at the end of 2015 and for several years had been hatching a plan to do a long walk in India in order to raise funds for Future Hope. The long walk has a great tradition in India eg Mahatma Gandhi’s Salt March and the long distances walked by pilgrims in order to visit religious sites” he added.
