Aadhaar Enrollment Becomes Easy For Telangana Students, Can Register In Schools
Hyderabad: In a first initiation, all school students from the state of Telangana can get themselves enrolled at school itself. And moreover there will be no charges or any cost. With this, getting Aadhaar cards becomes easy for students. The Unique Identification Authority of India gave its nod to the Directorate of School Education to come up with centres for Aadhaar enrollment.
The students have the option to get Aadhaar details either from their schools or can avail it through the facility installed at Mandal Resource Centres (MRCs) located in the Mandal Education Office.
Along with this, the Directorate has also equipped MRCs at various 163 mandals with Aadhaar kits, so that the students can enroll themselves there itself.
“Every year close to six lakh students enroll under different managements. New enrollments and updation of the Aadhaar details can be done at the MRCs. Depending on the need, the staff from the MRCs will visit the schools to provide Aadhaar,” said a senior official. The State will be equipped with kits in all mandals which is required for the purpose before the commencement of the academic year itself, he said.
The Official also said that many children were not able to get their Aadhaar enrollment done because of the distance at which the centres for enrollment were located. Along with that they also needed to pay for the service. “The service we provide to the students come free of cost and they do not have to make any payment,” the official said.
Along with children, the local people can also avail the facility by paying a very nominal charge. The Directorate has already trained more than 900 candidates among which 800 were termed to be qualified to work as technical persons at MRCs.
For students to get enrolled in schools, the Union government made it mandatory for admission to be made through Aadhaar as identity proof. This was to help them get the government schemes like mid-day meal, uniforms and textbooks which are just a few among many other schemes. This policy will also help weed out bogus enrollments.
Directorate has got the statistics which convey that by the year 2017-18, a total of 53 lakh students have already provided their Aadhaar details while many students are still left out and need to enroll as soon as possible to get maximum benefit. Next education season is all set to commence very soon within few months, so, along with that, there will be fresh enrollments of students. The intention of Directorate is to complete the whole process of enrollment to be over by the academic year 2018-19.
Aadhaar is Inidian Government initiative with the aim of identifying its citizens with the help of 12-digit unique identity number based on their bio-metric and demographic data.
