Chandra Babu Naidu Expects Regional Parties To Unite Against Centre’s ‘Injustice’

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Tuesday expressed the need for the regional parties to join hands with the Telugu Desam Party to raise concerns over the “injustice” done by the NDA government at the Centre to all the states ruled by opposition parties.

The Chief Minister also pressed on the need to set up priority for to demand from the Centre to give a special sstatus and funds to Andhra Pradesh.

“Today my priority is my state. We quit NDA because the government was ignoring our demands. This is injustice,” Mr Naidu, who held meets with several opposition leaders in the capital, said.

The Chief Minister also talked to the leaders of BJP, Hema Malini and Jayant Sinha alongside meeting few NDA allies.

He told that regional and Left parties had given their support to the TDP’s efforts in Parliament to bring in a no-confidence motion.

“We are thankful to them. We need their support to pressure the Centre so that states are not ignored.” Mr Naidu told PTI News Agency.

A party source told that Mr. Naidu informed all his party MPs that he would not go and ‘beg’ for a special status for Andhra Pradesh and in future too he may not work with the NDA.

Mr Naidu, who had earlier met the party leaders in Parliament, discussed the issue of Andhra Pradesh’s special status with Left leaders.

“We all met. We discussed the issue of a special status for Andhra Pradesh. We also questioned the trustworthiness of the prime minister. We discussed how frustrating it is for Members of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh,” CPI(M) leader Mohammad Salim said after meeting Mr Naidu.

He said the Left parties assured Mr Naidu that they supported him.

“We said we are all with him. We should all combine the issues and take on the government on the floor of the house rather than going to the well. He was very appreciative of that,” Mr Salim said, while also adding that the Andhra Pradesh chief minister endorsed the proposal to move together.

Mr Naidu also had a “fruitful meeting” with West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress leaders on the opposition strategy followed in Parliament which gained the TDP support from other parties.

“Naidu thanked the TMC for its strong support to the no-confidence motion notice brought in by the TDP,” TMC MP Derek O’Brien said.

Among many issues discussed by Mr Naidu and other leaders were also the proposals related to the 15th Finance Commission and coordination between like-minded parties.

He also met several leaders from parties that include Congress, SP, BSP, Shiv Sena, DMK and AIADMK.

The meetings that took place at the Central Hall of Parliament were for the mission to garner support for the no-confidence motion against the NDA government.

The TDP cut all its ties with the BJP alleging neglect of the southern state and failure of the Central government led by Modi, to grant a special category state status to Andhra Pradesh.
