New Delhi: The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with Aam Aadmi Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejiriwal on Wednesday and sought his support in his attempts for the no-confidence motion which was moved by his party TDP against the Centre.

Among other issues, the TDP Chief also discussed the burning issues of Special Category Status and the “injustice” meted out to Andhra Pradesh by the Central Government.

“The Delhi chief minister said he would offer support to the TDP through members from his party in both houses of Parliament,” Telugu Desam Party’s Rajya Sabha MP C M Ramesh told reporters.

In March, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had broken its alliance with the ruling NDA soon after the Centre expressed its incapability to grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Apart from parting ways, the TDP moved a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led Modi Government over the same issue.

The Aam Aadmi Party has a total of four MPs in the Lok Sabha.

As Mr. Naidu arrived in Delhi on Tuesday, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has met several leaders from the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, AIADMK, DMK and Shiv Sena to garner support for his cause.

All of the meetings were arranged to garner support for the no-confidence motion against the NDA government.

Mr Naidu held meetings with National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, Sudip Bandyopadhyay (TMC), D Raja (CPI), V Maitreyan (AIADMK), Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal) and Ram Gopal Yadav (Samajwadi Party) too.

The whole drama for a change in political atmosphere in the country started after the budget 2018 was announced in the parliament, in which the TDP of Andhra Pradesh expected the state would be granted ‘Special Status’ as it was a part of the division of the united telugu state. The then Congress government which bifurcated the Telugu State into two and promised ‘Special Status’ for the divided Andhra Pradesh. But, when the BJP came to power, Mr. Naidu, with the hope of getting support for the state, joined the NDA alliance at the centre. But the alliance proved to be useless for the ruling TDP party. All the regional parties including TDP, YSRC and others protested the non-allocation of sufficient funds. Later, YSRC Chief Jagan called for a no-confidence move in Lok Sabha, to which TDP agreed at the first instance, but later changed its mind and called for a separate no-confidence move by the party. Along with that came the demand for a separate front without any alignment with Congress or BJP. The first to call for this demand was Mr. KCR Chief Minister of Telangana. And then other parties from the opposition and regional ones started airing their view regarding their support for the new would be front.
