Mumbai airport’s cargo hold area too was submerged in ankle-deep water, wetting and spoiling several consignments worth millions. The airport has the busiest freighter operations in the country. Meanwhile, weather observatory has predicted heavy rainfalls and for the safety of students, the state government has declared a holiday on Wednesday. State Education Minister, Vinod Tawde said that the department will compensate by reducing a day from the Diwali vacations.

With the weather department forecasting more rain, the civic administration and other agencies have geared up to tackle any possibility and keep the city afloat unlike on August 29, when the metropolis was flooded.
