From past couple of days, there are series of incidents in which women are molested, abused or raped at various metro cities in India. Starting from Kerala’s molestation attempt in Kozhikode in broad daylight, the streak continued with Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, after an unfortunate incident that took place in Mumbai MMTS train another one surfaced the news and it happened in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam footpath.

Sadly, no matter how many critical steps are taken, sexual harassment and molestation are somehow typical menaces to the current state of the society, crucial problems in today’s corporate and other professional sectors. Kicking aside the academics, proper morale is mandatory and many people are actually missing it. Though Woman empowerment is a must aspect, there must be a push from another side to make people aware of manners, despite the various laws and amendments that almost turned out to be favorable in women’s sides, we are utterly unable to gain expected progress.

Coming to this incident, it is Ganji Siva, a youth from Visakhapatnam who indulged in a rape. He committed this crime in public, on the footpath. Police later found that he is drunk. The miserable add-on to this incident is, no one stepped forward to stop Siva from doing this. Instead, many recorded the incident. To everyone’s surprise, this happened on a busy road in Vizag.

This 23-year-old drunk rapist was arrested and booked under Rape act section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. After some interrogation, it is found out that the victim was sitting under a tree on the footpath near the Railway colony. The whole incident which is shown in the below video was recorded by an auto-driver who called the police later.

Here, in this video, we can see several onlookers walking past as the woman is being raped; one person is even seen abruptly changing his course. “The statements given by both were incoherent and inconsistent”, said the Police official.

After all, it would have been good if the auto-driver had stepped forward to restrict the heinous deed instead of recording the same.
