A Twitter User Warned Railway Ministry About A Possible Mishap 5 Days Before Ranchi Rajdhani Derailment, But The Ministry Couldn’t Stop The Accident
Indian Railways has been dealing with derailment problems ever since the railways was incepted in the country. Even though, due to negligence in maintenance, issues have started cropping up more than often. Recently, since a month, there have been several reported incidents of train derailments, some fatal and some which didn’t claim lives but caused damages.
There have been several derailment incidents lately and many lives were lost while a number of people were injured. The former Railway minister Suresh Prabhu was so hurt with these incidents that he offered his resignation to PM Modi; however, he was given a different ministry during the cabinet extension.
Now the new rail minister is Piyush Goyal and we are hopeful that he will do something to stop such incidents but the question which arises here is that whether his department is also serious in its functioning or not.

But the gross negligence on part of the railway authorities is something that’s alarming. One such derailment could’ve been stopped if they would have been more proactive. Ranchi Rajdhani express derailed just 200 meters away from the station on September 7. But it could’ve been avoided.
A Twitter user, Rakesh Kumar Kaushik has claimed he had warned the railway ministry about a potential mishap at Delhi’s Shivaji Bridge, five days before the Ranchi Rajdhani express derailed. Rakesh Kumar tweeted a photograph to @RailMinIndia on September 2, drawing its attention to a damaged portion of a railway track near the station.

Within 25 minutes, he got a response. The ministry’s tweet asked Delhi Division of the Northern Railway to “look into the matter”.
@Drmdelhi Kindly look into this.
— Ministry of Railways (@RailMinIndia) September 2, 2017
DRM Delhi then forwarded the complaint to @srden-cdli for necessary action.
@srden_cdli Look into the matter.

There was no reply to the tweet. Besides the derailment of Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express barely 200 meters away from New Delhi station, two more train mishaps took place on Thursday.
Those involved in rescue operation said that a crack on the rail could have triggered the accident. The Railways, however, has brushed aside the allegations and claim that only a proper investigation will ascertain the cause.
Soon, the Twitter users spotted the tweet and have criticized the Railways for the ‘criminal negligence’ and called for action against the officials.
Shocking! Despite the @RailMinIndia @PiyushGoyal being alerted by a passenger @rakesk10061974 ..the accident happens! @rahulkanwal @republic
