Traffic rules are not only for the general people, they are equal for everyone in the country though he is a government employee or police officer or even the Prime Minister. Talking on the phone is dangerous while driving and it is one of the traffic rules. Violating this rule might result in paying fine.

In the video below, we can see a policeman riding his bike while talking on the phone. The incident took place in Chandigarh. The head constable Surinder Singh was seen slapping the local who questioned for using a mobile phone while driving. The video has gone viral on the Internet.

The police were allegedly not even wearing his helmet properly. One of the locals identified the police and started capturing a video riding behind the policeman. However, the local stopped the police and asked about violating the traffic rules.

Kumar(29), who works as an event manager, said he shot the video at the Sector 36/37 road, Chandigarh. He said he was returning from the DPI office in Sector 9 he spotted the policeman talking on the mobile phone while driving. “When I confronted him about the traffic rule violation, he slapped me,” he added.

The head constable was not even wearing the helmet properly and had just kept it on his head. “When a common man does the same, he is given challan. But if a policeman does it, he slaps the complainant!” Kumar, who later filed a written complaint about the incident, said.

When the local questioned him, the cop allegedly slapped him. As soon as the video was uploaded on social media, it went viral with Chandigarh residents slamming the police. Former union minister and Congress leader Manish Tiwari sought action against the policeman while uploading the video on his twitter handle.

“-@IG_CHANDIGARH -DGP Chandigarh Tejinder LUTHRA Ji if the video in this tweet is true plz suspend this police official for assaulting a Citizen,”(sic) Tiwari wrote.

Chandigarh police SSP Traffic Shashank Anand said the head constable has been suspended for misconduct and violating traffic norms. He was also given challan for not wearing his helmet properly and speaking on the phone while driving, the SSP said.

The erring cop, posted with the security wing of the Chandigarh police, has been placed under suspension. The driving license of the cop has been seized and it will be sent to the transport and licensing authority for suspension for three months, he added.
